Mazda has been producing premium vehicles with excellent power for decades. One of the most popular vehicle types at our dealership is the Mazda sedan due to its eye-catching styling and extensive history of being one of the brand’s flagship designs. To learn more about Mazda sedans, visit us at Mazda of Kent today.
The first Mazda sedan was the Mazda Luce in 1966, but it was only sold in the United States from 1971 to 1973. This vehicle was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who also created several Lamborghini and Maserati models. Eventually, Mazda created a two-door version of the Mazda Luce with front-wheel drive and a two-rotor engine.
The next evolution of the Mazda Luce was Mazda’s first-ever rotary-powered sedan, the Mazda RX-4. Also available in coupe and station wagon forms, this vehicle was best known for its dynamic driving experience and engine smoothness, but was somewhat inefficient, which opened the door for piston-engine sedans.
Originally designed for royalty and Japanese government officials, the Mazda 929 gradually grew to be Mazda’s flagship sedan. This premium sedan packed features that were well ahead of their time to compete with other luxury vehicles, including a 3.0-liter V6 engine, a solar panel, heated seating, and four-wheel steering. This model was marketed similarly to the modern Mazda CX-9.
The Mazda Millenia replaced the Mazda 929 and boasted many firsts for the manufacturer. It featured a 2.3-liter supercharged Miller Cycle V6 engine that produced 210 horsepower while remaining highly efficient. This incredible engine won the Wards 10 Best Engine award for four consecutive years.
If you’re looking to purchase a Mazda sedan in the present day, one of the most popular available options is the 2024 Mazda3. With both sedan and hatchback styles, this premium vehicle creates an unforgettable driving experience by pairing a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G engine with front-wheel drive and unforgettable amenities.
